The A/V solution picked up on specific emails in my OST files that clients had sent me, which was great to know that it would scan that deep if we wanted (OST scanning is a bit of a performance monster, but with my laptop (i7, 16GB of ram and an SSD, i saw no performance hit really)).

Sales people were great to deal with, no urgency to make a decision that day or the next and they worked with us on setup, gave us a technical contact to work with and ask questions and extended our trial for testing purposes.

With demos of both, i much preferred the BitDefender portal which made it nice setup and work with. The other big factor was the cloud portal.

The hardware aspect of the client is great for some of our clients concerned about compliance, much easier to manage than hoping GPO disables it. We ended up going with Bitdefender because of the additional features is platform offers. I looked at both Webroot and Bitdefender along with Kaspersky. I finally convinced the owners that it was time to move on and they were glad to do so. I work for an MSP and took on the liberty to vet out new A/V solutions as we were using.Vipre. The business version does have URL protection, but it's not a web extension like the consumer version is, and it's based on a different technology

Update 2: Webroot does provide URL filtering, just not through a web extension as I had expected: Webroot is looking a little better at this point =) HTTPS URL filtering is available by enabling "Scan SSL" Update: Looks like Bitdefender Web Access Control cannot filter HTTPS websites, the only option would be to block ALL HTTPS usage, which is not usable. I'm not looking at other products at this point, I've either already tried them and didn't like them (looking at you Kaspersky), or they're way outta my budget (looking at you Cylance). Sorry about the wall of text, but I'd love to hear your stories. Beyond those two functions, everything else seems to be a wash!

Their business license is not their EDR solution however.Hey, so I am looking for real-world stories of usage between the two. BD is in the EDR/MTR field, but I don’t know enough to give you a true opinion. It’s all in what do you need and how much are you willing to pay for that next level of protection. If we were 200+ with site to site tunnels, mission critical servers running in our environment, etc we would have probably gone to a Sophos or Crowdstrike type platform. We are an SMB with about 40 endpoints but no on-site server so we went with BitDefender. If you’re needing true threat hunting and response capabilities then you’re moving into the Sophos realm, but the pricing goes up as well.

If depends on what you want, a robust A/V & endpoint control solution with a friendly/easy to use platform (gravityzone) and heuristics/machine learning then go with BitDefender.

I’ve always known of BD as a very powerful A/V & endpoint protection solution with some of the EDR bells and whistles, while Sophos Intercept goes full speed into threat hunting and remediation.
